Learn Human Design
A plain-language library covering the whole system: the five Types, seven Authorities, nine centers, 64 gates, 36 channels, and 12 profiles. Start with the basics, or jump straight to the piece of your chart you're curious about.
Basics
Foundations first: what the chart is, how it's computed, and how to read it.
8- 01What Is Human Design?Human Design is a map of how your energy naturally works, drawn from the time and place you were born. It doesn't tell you who to become. It describes how you already operate when nothing is in the way.
- 02StrategyStrategy is the way of entering things that suits your Type: responding, informing, waiting for the invitation, or waiting out a lunar cycle. Less a rule to obey, more a description of which door opens easily for you.
- 03The Not-SelfThe not-self is the version of you that runs on borrowed pressure: deciding from open centers, chasing what the room wants. Its calling cards are frustration, anger, bitterness, and disappointment.
- 04SignatureYour signature is the feeling that shows up when life is moving through you the way it's built to: satisfaction, success, peace, or surprise. It's the chart's way of saying you're on your own track.
- 05DefinitionDefinition is the pattern your colored-in centers make: whether they form one connected territory or several islands. It shapes how you process life and what you look for in other people.
- 06DeconditioningDeconditioning is the slow process of noticing which habits and pressures arrived through your open centers, and letting them loosen until what's left is recognizably you.
- 07How a Chart Is CalculatedA chart is computed from two snapshots of the sky: your birth moment and a point about 88 days before it. Planet positions map onto 64 gates, and the pattern they activate becomes your bodygraph.
- 08Reading Your BodyGraphThe bodygraph is the body-shaped map at the center of your chart: nine geometric centers, 64 numbered gates, and the channels between them. Once you can read its shapes and colors, the whole system opens up.
Types
The five broad ways energy engages with life.
5- To RespondGeneratorYou run on a deep well of energy that switches on when something genuinely pulls a yes out of you. Life works best when you let the world bring you things to react to, instead of chasing what hasn't asked for you.
- To Respond, then InformManifesting GeneratorYou respond like a Generator but move like a Manifestor: fast, multi-track, and quicker than most at finding the shortcut. Life works best when your energy says yes first and your speed kicks in second.
- To Wait for the InvitationProjectorYou're designed to see systems and people more clearly than they see themselves. Life works best when your guidance flows toward those who genuinely asked for it, instead of being spent on those who haven't.
- To InformManifestorYou carry rare starting energy: the capacity to act from an inner urge without waiting for anyone. Life works best when you give the people in your orbit a heads-up, not to ask permission, but to clear the path.
- To Wait a Lunar CycleReflectorYou're the rarest design: fully open, sampling and mirroring the people and places around you. Life works best when you treat your shifting experience as accurate information about your environment, not as instability.
Authorities
The seven decision signals. Which one is yours depends on your definition.
7- 01Emotional AuthorityYour clarity arrives over time, not in the moment. How a decision feels today is one data point, and tomorrow it feels different. Truth for you is what remains steady across the whole ride.
- 02Sacral AuthorityYour clearest answers are physical and immediate: a rise toward yes or a drop away from no, arriving before thought. Truth for you lives in the body's response to what's actually in front of it.
- 03Splenic AuthorityYour clarity is a quiet, one-time signal in the present moment: a subtle sense of safe or off, healthy or not. It speaks once, softly, and doesn't repeat itself.
- 04Ego AuthorityYour clearest signal is what you genuinely have the will and appetite for. A real yes from you comes with fuel attached; a talked-into yes arrives empty.
- 05Self-Projected AuthorityYour clarity lives in your own voice. When you talk a decision through out loud, you can hear whether it rings true to who you are, often before you know why.
- 06Mental AuthorityYou have no single inner sensor to consult, so your clarity assembles from outside: conversations with trusted people and the feel of the right environment. Your decisions ripen in dialogue, not in isolation.
- 07Lunar AuthorityYour clarity moves with the Moon. Over about a month the sky lights up your open chart from every angle, showing you a question from all sides. Truth for you is what stays steady across the whole cycle.
Centers
Nine hubs, each handling one department of being human.
9- HeadHead CenterThe Head is where questions come from: the quiet mental pressure to wonder, doubt, and make sense of things. It fuels thinking; it doesn't make decisions.
- AjnaAjna CenterThe Ajna turns raw wondering into concepts, opinions, and answers. It's the chart's meaning-maker, always busy building models of how things work.
- ThroatThroat CenterThe Throat is the chart's outlet: everything moving through you is trying to reach words or action here. It's where inner life becomes visible to other people.
- GG Center / IdentityThe G Center holds identity, love, and direction: the quiet sense of who you are and where your life is pointing. It's the chart's compass.
- HeartHeart / Ego CenterThe Heart Center runs willpower, promises, and self-worth: the energy that says 'count on me' and the inner ledger tracking whether the promise got kept.
- SacralSacral CenterThe Sacral is the body's workforce: renewable life-energy that powers work, making, and sustaining. It speaks in responses, not plans.
- SpleenSpleen CenterThe Spleen is the body's oldest awareness: instinct, timing, and the immune-like sense of what's healthy and what's off. It keeps you well in real time.
- Solar PlexusSolar Plexus CenterThe Solar Plexus is the emotional system: feeling that moves in waves, from social warmth to deep passion. More than any other center, it sets the mood of the room.
- RootRoot CenterThe Root is the pressure to move: the adrenalized push to get things done, resolve stress, and keep life in motion. It's fuel, not a deadline.
